Wireless payment devices have become a critical component in the emerging mobile commerce system. The ability to expand locations and services without the expense of a wired infrastructure can save on costs.
A wireless terminal is an integrated PIN Pad secured Point-of-Sale device that attaches to a cellular phone without impacting normal phone operation - users can still make calls and access Internet services. Such devices are capable of supporting multiple wireless transaction applications: credit, debit, ATM, bank, smart card (EMV compliant), stored value, check, Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT), phone cards and other electronically submitted transactions.
Such applications can be used by:
- Workers in the field
- Events/trade shows where using a wired terminal is not feasible
